Biography:

Mr. Houseknecht received his Master of Science from Utica College in Cyber Security. He recently was accepted into the Ph.D. program in Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State University. He is a veteran of the U.S Army Military Police as an explosive and patrol dog handler and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He served time overseas in the Middle East in 2002 and 2003. Getting out of the service in 2005 and at the rank of Sergeant, Mr. Houseknecht then pursued the path of law enforcement. During this time, he developed an interest in Cyber Security. He worked for the Pennsylvania State Police as a Computer Crime Analyst, conducting forensic analysis on digital data to assist in solving homicides, violent crimes, and computer crimes.  He has also worked in the private sector as a Computer Forensic Analyst assisting in both civil and criminal defense cases. Before coming to Penn State University, he worked at Geisinger Medical Center. While at Geisinger Mr. Houseknecht was a Penetration Tester and was a member of the incident response team. Prior to coming to University Park, he was a Lecturer at Penn State Harrisburg, teaching cyber security and computer forensics.  In this position, he assisted in developing the penetration testing lab; and was the advisor to the Cyber Lions club.

He has attended a number of training courses from the United States Secret Service, National White Collar Crime Center, International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists, and EC-Council.  Some specific courses he has taken are offensive security certified professional, certified ethical hacker by EC-Council, and certified computer forensic examiner basic by IACIS.
