Be You in Tech

Be You in Tech is a series of events and programs hosted by Penn State’s College of Information Sciences and Technology that aim to inform, inspire, and empower. Every initiative in the series is designed to help participants understand the role of diversity and inclusion in their personal and professional lives through knowledge-sharing, reflection, and community building. By sharing lived experiences and challenging established standards, Be You in Tech creates unique learning environments where everyone can explore how to be their authentic selves and create inclusive spaces for others.

Held each spring, the Be You in Tech Annual Summit brings together Penn State students and corporate partners in an environment where they can connect, learn, share, and support each other while celebrating and recognizing the strength of diversity in the technology field. The event aims to empower participants in knowing and embracing their personal story and using it to drive professional success and personal fulfillment. Students benefit from engaging in conversations on career and professional development, finding and building community, and how diversity and inclusion impact technology.

IST Insiders gives newly admitted students an exclusive sneak peek at life in the college. Through a variety of discussions, hands-on workshops, and social activities, participants will make meaningful connections with other newly admitted and current IST students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Participants will leave the event with a strong support network and community of peers who are ready to take on new challenges with them.

This is an invitation-only event for newly admitted students. Invitations will be mailed to select students in early 2024.

Current IST students, faculty, and staff are invited to celebrate the end of the semester and take a few moments to destress. Connect with the IST community through games, food, and information on self-care in a fun and informal atmosphere.

Check the IST events calendar for information on the next Wellness Celebration.

Cookies and Community invites IST students, faculty, and staff to mingle over snacks and refreshments while connecting with staff in the Office of Enrollment, Engagement, and Belonging. Participants can get information on support resources and enter to win IST swag and other raffle prizes.
