We're here to help.
Unexpected events and challenges can negatively impact your academic performance. Academic distress, housing or food insecurity, medical emergencies, and other situations are often beyond your control and difficult to manage along with coursework.

For academic concerns involving IST courses, we strive to proactively assist you in finding resolutions as early as possible. Here are steps you should take to address these concerns.
First, attempt to resolve academic concerns such as attendance, grads, and extensions with your instructor. Review the Penn State Grading Policy for concerns pertaining to a grade. You can also schedule an appointment with your academic adviser or the Graduate Programs team to receive coaching and suggestions for resolution.
If you're unable to resolve your academic concerns with your instructor, submit the IST Academic Concern form. Your responses will directed to the associate dean for undergraduate or graduate education for review. Note that in order to assist you, we may need to contact the course instructor, which may impact your privacy. More information can be found in the Penn State Privacy Policy.
If your final grade is recorded before a resolution is reached, you may submit a request for grade mediation and adjudication via the IST Academic Concern form. More information, including the official Grade Adjudication Petition form, can be found in the Penn State Undergraduate Education website.
