Meet Jane

Why did you choose to come to Penn State?

The alumni network and availability of student and professional resources.

What do you remember about your first day on campus?

How big and confusing the campus felt. It feels much smaller now that I’ve been here three years!

How are you involved on campus?

I’m currently active with Women in IST (WIST), the IST Consulting Group, Gamma Tau Phi—all IST student organizations—and Reve Dance Company. These clubs make me a more well-rounded student by applying my education to special interests. I am also currently a learning assistant for "Introduction to Data Sciences,” and previously served as an LA for “Information, People and Technology” and “Elementary Statistics.”

Which instructor has made the biggest impact on you?

Hadi Hosseini, assistant professor of IST. He is one of the most passionate professors I’ve come across at Penn State. He genuinely cares about how students learn best and encourages continual education and research.

Have you completed an internship?

This past summer, I interned with RSM in their risk consulting practice as a security and privacy risk consultant. I applied all aspects of my IST education, such as cybersecurity best practices, analyzing risk, and making data-informed decisions.

What is the best thing about IST?

The availability of career and student resources and the variety of classes that spark my interest.
