IST 597-001: Human Centered Artificial Intelligence

This course will explore design principles and implementation strategies for Human Centered Artificial Intelligence (HCAI). It will focus on understanding requirements and guidelines for AI applications to support human values, ethics, and positive user experiences. The course will also explore the challenges and opportunities of using generative AI in different application contexts. By the end of the course, students should be able to conduct need assessments for designing AI applications, prototyping human-AI interactions, and human-centered assessment of AI applications. The course will follow a learning-by-doing approach with hands-on class activities and interactions.
