IST 402-001: Prototyping for UX Design

Fall 2025 Course Title: Emerging Issues and Technologies

In design, prototyping is the process of producing an early version of a design to make it clear to others how it will work and what problems it is attempting to solve. In this course, students will take a deep dive into prototyping, learning how to express their ideas through physical models. Students will create a prototyping kit and create models to solve design challenges and other prototyping problems. They will use those prototypes to develop and understand their design ideas and explain them to others. This course aims to give students a deeper understanding of the design process and help them think about problems in a new way.

NOTE: Students will be required to buy items for a prototyping kit which will include tools and materials to build physical prototypes and they must bring it to class each day.
