Each fall, the College of IST sponsors a group of students to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration and the ACM Richard Tapia Celebration. These conferences enable students to connect with industry leaders, learn from experts, and represent Penn State and the College of IST on a national stage.
Application Information
Applications open in April and notified of their status by the end of the spring semester. Late submissions will not be considered. A selection committee reviews applicants based on several criteria, including:
- Academic standing
- Class year
- Engagement within the Penn State and/or IST community
Selected students receive funding for travel, lodging, and registration, supported by the College of IST and corporate partners. Students are responsible for covering their own meal expenses.
Participation Requirements
Students must attend professional development workshops led by IST staff before the conference and engage in post-conference activities such as reflection assignments or a student panel presentation.
Eligibility
To be considered for participation, students must be:
- Enrolled in residential classes at University Park during the fall semester
- Enrolled in the College of IST
- In good academic standing (cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher)
