Angela Govila '05

Angela Govila is a technology, financial services, and transformation executive with more than two decades of experience leading complex organizations and large-scale technology platforms across Microsoft, JPMorgan Chase, Capital One, Ernst & Young, and General Electric. Operating at the intersection of strategy, technology, and commercial execution, she has led businesses spanning payments, financial services, enterprise technology, and AI.

At Microsoft, Angela leads strategic initiatives driving the expansion of Microsoft Marketplace into regulated markets, supporting a business generating approximately $2B in revenue. Previously, at JPMorgan Chase, she led a $30M P&L supporting approximately 4 million small-business clients. She has built three product organizations from the ground up, with a track record of creating scalable businesses, driving complex transformations, and leading platforms processing trillions in payment volume. She is also the inventor of a patented mobile payments innovation.

Dedicated to the future of technology and ethical leadership, Angela is an alumna of the Aspen Technology Hub. She is deeply committed to empowering the next generation at Penn State; alongside her husband, fellow IST graduate Dr. Ankur Tarnacha, she established a scholarship supporting emerging technologists in the College of IST.

While her professional life is defined by complex technology and global scale, Angela finds her balance in nature. She is an avid hiker, mountaineer, and cyclist who loves the quiet simplicity of a long trail. Whether she is backpacking through the backcountry or summiting a new peak, the outdoors is where she goes to recharge and gain perspective.
