Biography:

John Viglione is the executive vice president and chief technology officer at Vertex Inc., a privately held software company located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. Viglione is a member of the Vertex Executive Council, responsible for the strategic and operational alignment of the company. He initially joined the company as its Chief Technology Officer to complete the introduction of its then early market client/server offerings while leading the architecture efforts to create its next generation global transactional system, known today as Vertex© Indirect Tax O Series©, an on-premise and cloud platform. As a member of the Executive Council, Viglione sponsors the efforts of Vertex's most current commercial venture, known as Vertex© Enterprise, a global data management platform, transcending Vertex O Series and enabling multi-national corporations to manage the complex financial planning and compliance associated with global tax management.

Viglione is active in the technology and industry analyst community associated with the global technology eco-systems, while engaged in various business development and partner ventures.

Prior to joining Vertex, Viglione was a senior member of the technology group of Reliance Group Holdings, insurance operations, based in Philadelphia and New York City, where his responsibilities included infrastructure and application system design and migration as well as partner technology evaluations. Prior to Reliance, he was recruited into Air Products and Chemicals Career Development Program, focuses on emerging technology and large system analysis. While John pursued his MBA at the Smeal College of Business, Penn State University main campus, he interned with IBM and was a graduate student member of the Student Budget Committee.

Viglione is also an active member of the Philadelphia technology community. He advocates for the advancement technologies such as data pattern analysis, advises start-ups, and volunteers his time with charitable organizations in the Philadelphia area. Viglione also authors white papers, articles and book contributions, in addition to participating in various industry panels and speaking engagements for Vertex company functions.

Viglione holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph's University and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Penn State Smeal's College of Business.

Viglione lives in Chester County with his wife and son. All are Penn Staters!
