Justin Silverman, assistant professor, is the recipient of the prestigious Raymond and Diana Tronzo Medical Informatics Endowment in the College of Information Sciences and Technology, effective July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027. The funds will support Silverman as he engages faculty and students in innovative research related to medical informatics.
The endowment supports areas of research and study that include such topics as
- The use of hand-held technology in conveying web-based clinical information
- The use of interactive image technologies
- The use of medical information technology in communities of diverse socioeconomic status
- The patterns and use of medical information obtained by the patient in the digital age
Silverman's applied research focus combines his medical and statistical training toward problems in the analysis of biomedical data, especially bioinformatics. The Tronzo Endowment provides financial resources for research expenses, education and travel expenses, graduate student support and more.
