Where: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, ‘What can the placenta tell us? Pittsburgh researchers join effort to find out’
What: A new tool that harnesses computer vision and artificial intelligence enables doctors to examine placentas right at the bedside using just a phone. The tool was developed by a multi-national, multi-institutional team led by Penn State researchers. James Z. Wang, distinguished professor in the College of IST, was one of the principal investigators, and Yimu Pan, a doctoral candidate in the informatics program in the College of IST, was the lead author on the study.
