Course Champions

In the College of Information Sciences and Technology, the updating and maintenance of undergraduate courses is led by course champions, with input from program and department leadership. Course Champions serve as the main point of contact regarding course content. Course champions are typically chosen based on their general knowledge of the content associated with the course and the frequency and/or recency of their experience teaching the course.

Course Champion Responsibilities

In general, the role of the course champion is to work closely with faculty leadership and staff to:

• Respond to course-related questions and concerns, especially from new instructors

• Contact course instructors prior to each semester to ensure they have appropriate course materials and information

• Help to maintain agreement on the common 80% of the course

• Participate in assessment efforts as needed

• Work with faculty leadership to form ad hoc course committees, as needed*

• Participate in course developments and revisions as a collaborator and/or course reviewer

• Assist with course proposals and changes, in conjunction with leadership

*While there will no longer be full course committees as in the past, course champions (in consultation with faculty leadership) may choose to form ad hoc course committees, when there is a specific need for one.
