University Park Tutoring

Spring 2025 Drop-in Tutoring Schedule:

Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 – 10:00 pm in E203 Westgate
Tutoring begins the second week of classes (Wednesday, January 22) and ends the final week of classes (Thursday, May 1)

Need help with 100 or 200-level (some 300 and 400-level - see "Courses Supported at UP tutoring" below for a list) College of IST courses? Bring your questions, your partial work, and your course materials to the College’s Tutoring Sessions.

We provide one-on-one and group coaching to help undergraduate students practice and reinforce concepts in the College of IST curriculum. Tutors are trained to help you puzzle through the problems on which you are stuck, but you will do the work of learning and reap the benefits! The tutors’ job is NOT to re-teach course material. Rather, the tutoring team will aid students in their learning by helping to clarify unclear concepts and by supporting students as they practice skills and apply new understandings.

What can tutees expect at our sessions?

Our tutoring sessions are open forums held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00pm to 10:00pm in E203 Westgate. No appointments are necessary; any IST student can simply walk in and ask for help. We encourage Learning Assistants to hold office hours during tutoring and student groups to use the tutoring space as a place to gather to work on projects.

While participating in our sessions, tutees can expect the following from the tutoring staff:

A positive attitude and supportive demeanor
A culture of hard work and integrity
Fair, ethical, and equitable treatment of all students
Discussion and explanation of unclear course concepts so that you can complete assignments and assessments on your own

We expect the following from students who attend tutoring:

Come ready and willing to actively participate in your learning by reviewing course notes and content ahead of time
Regularly attend the course(s) for which you are seeking support
Respect their fellow students’ time by not monopolizing tutors – especially when tutoring is crowded
Abide by the IST Honor Code
