While the panoramic landmark remains the same on the outside, the college within evolves, boasting brand new majors and more students than ever. Westgate Through the Years
Central to the building is Reese's Cafe and a grand staircase that connects the second and third floors, shown here during construction in 2003.
The Westgate Building's span over Atherton Street makes it an instantly recognizeable landmark on campus.
The building's prime location and unique layout offer spectacular views of campus, including Old Main.
The building's location on the western edge of campus makes it a stunning backdrop for sunsets.
The college's first graduates have their name etched into bricks on one of Westgate Building's pillars.
Recent upgrades to Westgate's interior created several new student collaboration and study spaces.
The Gene and Roz Chaiken Center for Student Success, which opened in 2024, creates and enhances services, programs and spaces that promote academic, personal and professional success.
The Westgate Building has been home to the College of IST since 2004.

In a University founded in 1855, the 25-year-old College of IST is relatively young. But it’s old enough to bid farewell to more than 100 years of collective experience. Six individuals who played key roles in the college’s growth retired or resigned during the 2024-25 academic year.
