The Igwé Family Matching Scholarship Program in the College of Information Sciences and Technology—generously created by C. Frank Igwé ’08g in 2024—offers a 1:1 match, with a minimum commitment of $25,000 and a maximum of $50,000. This program essentially allows donors to fully fund an endowed scholarship at half the cost.
The scholarships directly support students who contribute to the diversity of the student body, first-generation students, and/or students who have demonstrated financial need.
We are grateful to Mark ’07 and Carol ’08 A&A Poblete for being the first alumni to take advantage of this giving opportunity. Their gift of $25,000 established the Mark and Carol Poblete Igwé Family Matching Scholarship.
Since that initial gift, more alumni have responded to the call:
- The Darin Sinclair Carter–Igwé Family Matching Scholarship, Darin Carter ’14 ($50,000)
- Matthew Gartland Igwé Family Matching Scholarship, Matthew Gartland ’05 ($25,000)
- The Pipino Family–Igwé Family Matching Scholarship, Stephen Pipino ’03 ($25,000)
- Shah and Igwé Family Matching Scholarship in Honor of Bina and Shailesh Shah, Purvi Shah ’03 and Ruchi Holtz ’06 ($40,000)
“Spreading the word about matching gifts is a major priority for IST this year,” said Tom Maatta, IST’s director of development. “By leveraging a corporate match, a donor has the potential to double or triple the value of their individual gift, truly increasing the impact of their contribution. This increased impact enables our alumni to do things they might otherwise not be able to do for years, while helping us build our fundamental foundation of support at such a critical time.”
