Affiliation Agreements & Non-Disclosure Agreements

You are here

Some organizations require an Affiliation Agreement or a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to be signed between them and Penn State University.  The Office of Career Solutions & Corporate Engagement is not permitted to sign any of this paperwork.  It is submitted to the Office of General Counsel for their review and signature.

It is important to plan ahead when these types of agreements are required because it is difficult to predict how long it might take for these papers to be reviewed and signed.  This process can be a lengthy requiring many emails and conversations back and forth between Penn State and the internship organization.  It can also be a fairly quick process depending on the complexity of the agreement, the number of points that are being discussed and the volume of other work being managed within each office.

Note for Credit by Portfolio students: It is especially important for students considering the Credit by Portfolio to check with their employer regarding NDA's before beginnning the Credit by Portfolio process.  It might be easier in the long run to use a current position to fulfill the internship requirement. Be sure to contact the Office of Career Solutions & Corporate Engagement to discuss options in a timely manner regarding your internship options, especially as you approach your final semesters.  Start the process early.  If an agreement for a Credit by Portfolio is required, and an NDA cannot be reached between the University and your employer/organization, we cannot accept the portfolio to fulfill the internship requirement.
