ePortfolios

You are here

An ePortfolio, or online portfolio, is a collection electronic evidence that demonstrates your technical abilities while offering a record of your learning and achievement.  It allows you to tell your unique story while providing samples of your work in one location.  Projects that you have completed through your coursework as well as projects that you have created on your own "for the fun of it" can be included.

ePortfolios may contain:

  • text
  • electronic files
  • graphics/images
  • multimedia
  • blog posts
  • website links

Being able to easily access a digital portfolio on a moment's notice might also open all kinds of doors in a spontaneous networking opportunity in an airport or at a coffee shop.  It's also a good idea to include a link to your ePortfolio on your resume and LinkedIn profile. For anyone doing any kind of coding/scripting, this is essential.  It’s the first thing an employer looks at for students who want to do anything with coding.

UX/UI

ePorfolios are critical resources especially if you are interested in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design jobs.  UX/UI portfolios will easily showcase your work.  Using portfolios and linking to your LinkedIn profile can be very helpful in your internship and job search process.  GitHub is a platform that is well known and easily accessible.

Here are some free digital portfolio sites you might want to consider.  Each site offers different options -- explore each to discover what might best suit your needs and creativity. Github is the preferred of professional platform.  Other platforms tend to be more in the social media presence arena.
