AI in Research Symposium

Oct. 2 | 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. | Graduate by Hilton State College

Artificial intelligence is reshaping how research gets done. It’s improving efficiency and expanding what’s possible. It also requires new norms, standards and practices that may differ across academic communities. At the College of IST's first-ever AI in Research Symposium, you'll see these changes happening firsthand and engage in discussions about changing norms.

Both student presenters and Symposium attendees are required to register.

Call for Graduate Student Participants

The deadline to apply to participate in the Competition part of the Symposium is Friday, September 25.

Have you used AI to sharpen your research process? We want to see it. Present your work during the symposium's demonstration session, get in front of faculty and peers, and compete for cash prizes.

To participate, you'll need to prepare a live demonstration, poster, or interactive display that shows AI at work in your research process. You'll present during the one-hour open demonstration session, and faculty and students will vote for their favorites.

About the Symposium

The event starts with hands-on demonstrations by College of IST graduate students showing how they use AI in their research workflows — from analyzing data to visualizing literature to prototyping designs. Attendees will vote on their favorites. Following the demonstrations, a panel of faculty and department heads will discuss what it all means for the future of research at IST.

Hosted by the College of IST Office of the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Affairs, this event allows graduate students and faculty to:

  • learn about new uses of AI for research
  • hear about and discuss emerging norms and rules being established by conferences and publishers
  • share thoughts and concerns about the evolving implications of AI in research
