Course Topic: Vibe Coding: Building Applications with Natural Language
The traditional way of designing and developing web-based and smartphone applications is being disrupted by recent code generation tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and Figma Make. These tools blur the distinction between designers and developers -- anyone with basic programming skills who can think critically can build production-quality apps through natural language prompts, a concept known as "vibe coding." In this course, students will learn how to use code generation tools effectively and vibe code to design, develop, and deploy real-world applications, such as a mental health chatbot, a fintech app like Robinhood, and a children's storybook generator app. The class is interactive and hands-on, driven by project-based learning. Students are expected to have a subscription to at least one code generation tool.
