Anticipating the Future in Information Technology (FIT)

In this course, students would review IST concepts across all majors to help inform an understanding of the current trends, needs, and constraints in higher education. Students will explore concepts such as privacy and security, teaching and learning, IT infrastructure, and analytics using readings such as annual reports by professional organizations. Course materials will also be supplemented with industry expert speakers from various areas to discuss specific contexts. These guest sessions will then lead to in-class discussions. Using their course, college, and University as a case study, students will develop an end-of-semester project to analyze an IT area of the University/College for areas of improvement, then identify and propose a technical solution. Students are encouraged to work in groups to create robust solutions.
