Course Topic: Health Information Technology (HIT)

In this “Emerging Issues and Technologies” course offered by the College of IST, students will be introduced to the design and use of health information technology (HIT). HIT is being rapidly integrated into our everyday lives. Individuals wear devices that track and visualize their daily health behaviors, and hospitals are implementing systems to digitally store and analyze patient data. This course will explore various types of HIT and how they are designed and used by individuals and organizations. Students will be asked to critically analyze the benefits and concerns of HIT use, and propose ideas for how to more effectively design HIT.
