Dr. Kinyua received a B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University College London in the United Kingdom (U.K.), an M.S. in Digital Communications from the University of Kent (U.K.), and a PhD. degree in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge (U. K.). He has many years of experience in higher education. He served as departmental Chair for six years and as a Dean for three years at different universities. He is widely experienced in teaching courses in different areas of Computer Science and Information Systems and published widely in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. He has presented research papers at numerous peer-reviewed international conferences around the world.
In his current role as an educator, Dr. Kinyua teaches courses in cybersecurity, enterprise integration, enterprise analytics, software engineering, database management systems, object-oriented programming in Java/C++/Python, and distributed database systems. He is current research work is in the following areas. The applications of artificial intelligence/machine learning in cybersecurity; developing and applying deep learning natural language models for financial markets using data from social media platforms, such as Twitter and Reddit; applying different anomaly detection techniques in the healthcare insurance sector; and lastly applying data science techniques to analyze human-wildlife conflict (HWC) data, and land use data to improve wildlife conservation initiatives.
