MURI team reaches 2-year mark
by Katie Moffitt
Peng Liu, professor of IST, and a team comprised of 5 post-doctorates and 15 graduate students, recently reached the 2-year mark on their Cyber Situational Awareness (Cyber SA) research; MURI: Computer-aided Human Centric Cyber Situation Awareness.
The 2-year research review was held at George Mason University on September 8 and 9. The research team’s goal has been to improve Cyber SA through knowledge, tools and models, and to improve capabilities when faced with a cyber attack. Their research in Cyber SA goes beyond computer security, placing a strong, human-centric emphasis on situational awareness.
The team, which includes members from Penn State University, North Carolina State University, University of Maryland, George Mason University, Arizona State University and Carnegie Mellon University, has written more than 40 publications and 1 Ph.D. thesis related to this research. While their 2-year mark has been reached, they hope to accomplish still more in the field of Cyber SA.
