Betzy Wilson joined the IST family in May 2002 as Manager of Research and Administrative Services. Betzy works closely with the IST faculty in the entire grants process, from grant writing to budget planning, to locating possible funding sources. She joins us from the Materials Science and Engineering Department where she served as the Administrative Assistant for the Department.
Also, joining the IST Family, is Kristy Catalano. Kristy joins us from the Smeal College of Business where she served as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean. She accepted the position as Assistant to the Dean for IST (formally held by Barbara Wright) in July 2002, and has stepped in without missing a beat. Kristy handles all aspects of the Dean’s schedule, travel, meetings, etc. She has been a wonderful addition to the IST Family.
Margaret Hopkins accepted the position as Coordinator for Public Information for IST in October 2002. As the school and faculty research continues to grow, the need for public information has grown with it. Margaret will be responsible for meeting with IST faculty members and writing about their research, books, and publications. She will also be the contact person for local and national media. Margaret has extensive writing experience and most recently worked as a senior editor with the Centre Daily Times.
Jean Peritz joined the IST family in April 2002 as Academic Advisor in the IST Advising Center. Jean previously worked as a admissions counselor in the Penn State Admissions Office, where she reviewed freshman application materials, domestic and international athletic credentials, organized and presented information sessions to high school students interested in Penn State, and assisted students with transfer credits.
Another addition to the IST Advising Center is Myrna Covington. Myrna joined IST in September 2002. Myra previously worked as an Instructor/Academic Counselor in the College of Education before accepting a position at Edinboro University. She not only serves as an academic advisor to IST students, but she is the IST liaison for the Button Waller Scholarship program. We’re happy to have Myrna back at Penn State and a part of the IST family.
Another pleasant addition to IST is Kylie Yanock. Kylie was hired in May 2002 to assist the IST finance office during their peak time. At the departure of Tawnya Conrad in July 2002, Kylie applied for the position and accepted. We’re glad she stayed with the IST family. Kylie is the first voice you hear when calling Rider I Building and is a team-player in every way. She’s always willing and eager to help in whatever way she can. Welcome to IST—full time!!
