IST’s redesigned Web site will go live Thursday, February 17 with a new look and features that will enable users to more quickly and easily find the information they are seeking.
“We did a radical overhaul of the site and in the process, designed it to be audience-driven, so people can seamlessly navigate the site to answer their questions,” said Cole Camplese, director of IST Solutions Institute.
The redesign took 18 months and involved far more than a facelift as new technologies were added and the site’s content management system was rebuilt. All 10 members of the institute staff as well as several undergraduate IST work-study students had a hand in the redesign. So did other IST units.
“We did more than put on a new skin—we created a whole new information architecture,” Camplese said. “The tools we created are extensible enough for any Web site, and we see them as marketable intellectual property.”
Next up for the Solutions Institute: Offering the tools and methodology to clients in higher education, government, and industry needing to revamp their Web sites.
