Voss Selected as Student Marshal for Commencement

Erica Voss, a Dean's List student throughout her academic career, has been chosen the student marshal for the Penn State School of Information Sciences and Technology at the University's Dec. 18 commencement.
Erica A. Voss of Readington, N.J., will serve as the student marshal for the Penn State School of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at the University’s Dec. 18 commencement ceremonies in the Bryce Jordan Center.

The daughter of Dr. Evon Martins and Dr. Kenneth Voss, Voss has distinguished herself academically in her career at University Park. She has been a dean’s list student every semester. In addition to a Merit scholarship, she is the recipient of two Supply Chain Excellence Awards from Johnson & Johnson.

Voss has held several leadership positions. She serves as the Web Master for WIST, the Women in Information Sciences and Technology club. She also is the Web Master of the SAP Student Interest Group. While working at Johnson & Johnson, Voss served as public relations chairwoman of the company’s Intern/Co-Op Association.

In addition to an internship at Lucent Technologies, Voss held an information management co-op from May through December 2003 with JOM Distribution, a Johnson & Johnson company in Somerset, N.J. In that position, she completed a profiling project for a warehouse management system, improved a company Web page and created a disaster recovery plan for a business-critical system.

Voss also had an information management internship at PSGA Headquarters, another Johnson & Johnson company, in Bridgewater, N.J. Here she proposed a cost savings project to the vice president of information management for the company.

Voss will be employed as a systems analyst at Johnson & Johnson starting in February. She will join the company’s two-year Information Management Leadership Development Program in June.

She is a 2000 graduate of Hunterdon Central High School in Flemington, N.J.

Gerry Santoro, an assistant professor of information sciences and technology, is the faculty marshal.
