Office of Multicultural Affairs
The Office of Multicultural Affairs in the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) has been in existence since 2003 to ensure the college’s understanding of the issues related to maintaining a diverse and equitable community. One of our core functions is to develop strategies to recruit and retain students, faculty, and staff from underrepresented groups, including women.
Our office partners with the Schreyer Honors College and Office of Global Programs, working closely with the marketing team and advising center in addition to exploring ways in which diversity program opportunities can be enhanced. Another responsibility of this office is to host the IST Diversity Committee, which brings together students, faculty, and staff to address community climate concerns.
The director of multicultural affairs also serves as a contact for students, faculty, and staff who have concerns about sexual harassment or hostile environments. For additional information, please see Policy AD42 or contact Barbara Farmer. All conversations are kept confidential unless action is required.
