Biography

Marc Hansen was President of Lockheed Martin Management & Data Systems (M&DS), a $2.5B business unit of the Lockheed Martin Corporation and was responsible for all aspects of the organization's business, including the management of more than 8,000 employees.  He directed a broad array of information technology business areas with capabilities focused on system engineering and integration, architectural definition, and large-scale information software systems design, development and implementation.

Mr. Hansen currently consults with the Lockheed Martin Corporation.

A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Hansen is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University (1968) with a B.S. in Science (Mathematics and Physics).  He earned a Master’s degree in Industrial Administration from Purdue University in 1986.

Mr. Hansen began his career in 1968 with GE Aerospace (GEA) in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.  In 1974, he became a Program Manager supporting the Landsat satellite system.  In 1977, he joined Management and Data Systems where he held a number of increasingly responsible engineering and program management positions.  In 1988, Mr. Hansen took on the assignment of Manager of GEA’s Aerospace Information Technology component.  In 1989, he transferred to Syracuse, New York as General Manager of Engineering, Ocean and Radar Systems.  In 1992, he took the position of Vice President of Technical Operations at Government Electronic Systems in Moorestown, New Jersey.  In January 1994, Mr. Hansen returned to Lockheed Martin Management & Data Systems (M&DS) as Vice President, Requirements Management System, and in March 1995 assumed the role of Executive Vice President of M&DS.  Mr. Hansen was named President of Management & Data Systems in March 1997.  He retired from that position in March of 2003.

Mr. Hansen was the Lockheed Martin Corporate Liaison to the Pennsylvania State University and currently serves on the Advisory Boards for their College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) and College of Science.  Mr. Hansen was presented PSU’s Eberly College Outstanding Science Alumni Award in October 2000 and was selected as a Penn State Alumni Fellow in 2003.

Mr. Hansen is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys frequent visits to the family’s vacation cabin near State College, Pennsylvania.  He and his wife, Cheryl, reside in Chester County, Pennsylvania.  They have two grown children, Wendy and Michael, who reside in Chester Springs, PA and Long Valley, NJ, respectively.
