IST's Master of Science Program - An Overview

The Master of Science in Information Sciences and Technology is an interdisciplinary degree program focusing on theoretical, application-oriented, and educational issues. Graduates will serve society as information technology problem-solvers in the private sector, government, non-profits, and academia.

Our college, opened in 1999, contributes to the University’s major effort to address the need for leadership in the information sciences and related technologies through an interdisciplinary research agenda, while delivering critical knowledge to organizations in all sectors of the economy struggling with technology problems.

We have taken great care to build a faculty and administrative team from among the best at our University and other leading educational institutions. Our faculty members are highly interdisciplinary in their research interests. It is truly an integrated community of scholars focused on research that pushes the field forward.

For master’s students, this program provides exposure and grounding in many aspects of the information sciences. Some research areas include: human computer interaction, computational techniques, applications like bio-informatics and geographical information systems, societal issues such as digital divide issues, user issues, and many more possibilities.
