B.A. in Information Sciences and Technology (ISTBA)

Student: ISTBA MajorThe Bachelor of Arts in Information Sciences and Technology (ISTBA) is the newest degree offered in the College of IST. It provides new avenues of study to those who are inherently independent and creative. If your goal after graduation is to be an entrepreneur, to go on to law school or want to acquire an advanced degree in another field, this degree may be suitable for you.

In this program you will attain:

  • A thorough grounding in information sciences and technology
  • The ability to apply IT creatively, in "non-traditional" areas such as the arts and humanities
  • The breadth of experience needed to accomplish their goals
The B.A. in IST is highly interdisciplinary and the B.A. candidate will be equipped with the expertise and skill set to navigate through the increasingly complex technology landscape. It is not designed to accommodate students who have failed entrance-to-major requirements in another major. It is also not designed to provide a major for students who have accumulated many credits as a result of changing majors several times, and have credits in unrelated disciplines, etc. If you have completed more than 60 credits of coursework, you are also not eligible.

For more information about the B.A. degree, contact the IST Undergraduate Advising Center at 866-225-8707 (toll-free), 865-8947, or advising@ist.psu.edu.
